about
About Maryland Newborn & Family Photographer, Jodie OtteExperience & Education
About the Photographer — Professsional Photographer, Artist, and Photography and Small Business Educator, Jodie Holstein-Otte, was the original fine art newborn photographer of the Greater Baltimore, Maryland area in the early 2000s. She operated three commercial portrait studios in Northern Baltimore County.
Jodie began as an award-winning artist; she painted traditional portraits by hand in pastels and oils many years ago. Portrait photography as a business became a natural progression. Jodie strives to maintain realism in portraits among these days of overdone digital processing. She creates images full of warmth and peace with classic rich tones using both natural and studio lighting. She authored the original book Studio Lighting Naturally which combined photographing newborns with studio strobe techniques that mimicked natural light. Her techniques have been nationally recognized for excellence.

Publications
Jodie’s portrait, nature, and commercial work has been published locally as well as nationally in Parenting, American Baby, Brio Magazine, Parents, Fit Pregnancy, InStyle, US Weekly, People Magazine, the New York Times, and on Fox News in Baltimore and CNN. Her work has been published in the Big Book of Babies by J.C.Suares, and she is known as the photographer behind the Similac Infant Formula ad campaigns 2009-2011. Her images may also be seen on greeting cards, in books, publications, and teaching material for medical professionals.
Jodie also photographs nature, animals, and creates fine art prints available for purchase and shown throughout Maryland and Pennsylvania

Personal

Her son is a computer programmer/software engineer and her daughter is pursuing the field of genetics and biochemistry. Jodie helps her daughter run Anomaly Rabbitry, and she shares a little of her life and recent photography work as well as her trials and tribulations of getting a bit back to natural living on her personal blog, My Faux Farm.
