Child Photographer - About

 

Children's Photographer, Jodie Holstein-Otte, specializes in child portraits and baby portraits; however, she also photographs pregnant moms and families as well as takes assignments for commercial and editorial work.  She operates out of her portrait studio in Baltimore County, Maryland in the heart of beautiful horse country, historic Monkton, Maryland.  Her client base covers Maryland, Pennsylvania, DC, Virginia, and Delaware.  She also has clients travel from all over the United States for her one-of-a-kind images.

 

Jodie's schedule limits on-location sessions; however, when commissioned, the areas she shoots include but are not limited to the following: Baltimore County, Howard County, Anne Arundel County, Carroll County, Baltimore, Timonium, Towson, Hunt Valley, Owings Mills, Monkton, Parkton, Jarrettsville, Jacksonville, Hereford, Reisterstown, White Hall, Bel Air, Forest Hill, Fallston, Baldwin, Perry Hall, Roland Park, Homeland, Annapolis, Gambrills, Crownsville, Ellicott City, Columbia, Marriottsville, Mt. Washington, Rodgers Forge, Ruxton, Sparks, Kingsville, Hereford, White Marsh, Havre de Grace, Hampstead, Finksburg, Westminster, Mount Washington, Catonsville, Manchester, Havre de Grace, Hunt Valley, Cockeysville, Maryland. On-location sessions also include:  Red Lion, Glen Rock, Shrewsbury, Stewartstown, York, and New Freedom, Pennsylvania.  Some locations of interest around Maryland for on-location portraits include:  Oregon Ridge, Kilgore Falls, Cloisters Castle, Ladew Gardens, and Rocks State Park.

 

Jodie is currently holding photography workshops in her Baltimore Studio for photographers.  These workshops include tips for how to photograph newborns, babies, children, and pregnant clients with studio lighting in a way that mimics natural light.  For more information, please contact Jodie.

 

On a personal note, Jodie grew up in Baltimore County, Maryland.  Her love of art became evident as a child when it was discovered she had a talent of being able to recreate the human face on canvas, maintaining a detailed likeness of each subject with extreme detailed focus on the eyes, which she believes is where "life" is captured.   As an adult, she began to sell her work as a portrait artist, painting with oils and pastels, while studying photography.   She has taken photography classes, but is predominantly self taught, constantly keeping up with the latest trends in lighting techniques and digital post-processing.  Although her love was once black and white film photography, she has developed her own digital manipulation that fits her realist style and the way she sees the world.
